Steve Selsky Named Coca-Cola Player of the Week

Steve Selsky (Arizona) celebrated his birthday in style this past week, hitting .438 (7-for-16) with two home runs and a double, and on Sunday he received a belated birthday gift. Selsky was named the Coca-Cola Player of the Week by the Cape Cod Baseball League, his first such honor in two years on the Cape. (More)
Carpenter's No-No Broken Up in Ninth Inning of 3-1 Victory

With his parents visiting from Arizona to see him pitch, Ryan Carpenter (Gonzaga) took a no-hitter into the ninth inning Sunday night in Bourne before surrendering a triple to Creede Simpson (Auburn). Firebirds Claw Out Three Points in Double-Header Against Falmouth

The Orleans Firebirds were down 2-0 in Game 1 and 4-1 in Game 2, but got clutch two-out RBI hits from three different players to come back and earn three points with a 2-2 tie and 5-4 win in two games against the Falmouth Commodores Saturday at Eldredge Park. (More)
Firebirds Survive Rain and Whitecaps, Win 4-3

When the skies opened up in the bottom of the sixth inning, it appeared as if the Orleans Firebirds' three-run comeback in the top of the sixth would be nullified, that the score would revert back to the last full inning and the Brewster Whitecaps would win a 2-1, five inning game. But Mother Nature relented - for a few moments, at least - and Will Clinard (Vanderbilt) got the three outs needed for the Firebirds to win 4-3 in six innings Friday night in Brewster. (More)
